Basics

Chicago Sinai was founded in 1861 and is the oldest Reform Jewish Congregation in Chicago. Our history has been distinguished by a sustained commitment, on the part of our rabbis and members, to the principles of liberal Reform Judaism. These include making our house truly a house of prayer for all people, where interfaith families are fully welcome; conducting services primarily in English so that our members and guests can fully understand and participate; pursuing social justice as a religious imperative through our programs, activities and education; and providing intellectual leadership for the principles and promotion of liberal Reform Judaism.
