Chicago Sinai Congregation has a long history of social action and advocacy involvement. In the past few years, through the face-to-face process, the congregation has identified 3 key areas of interest: Education/Poverty; Environment; and Healthcare. We continue to support local, national, and international efforts.

Community Concerns Fund
Distributing funds collected during the High Holidays Community Concerns drive and throughout the year. Funds are provided to various local, national, and international organizations. Shelley Stern Grach, chair
Environment Committee
Focusing on improvement of the environment, starting with our own backyard. Open to members interested in specific projects, both at Sinai and in the community. Mike Wapner, chair

Mitzvah Committee
This group organizes and leads Mitzvah Weekend, which occurs at the end of April. Open to members who are interested in suggesting or leading activities during Mitzvah Weekend. Carol Yanowitz-Miller, chair
Sinai Schools Initiative
This year, Jenner School has been the recipient of many hours of volunteer time. Volunteers donate both time and resources to help the students and teachers at Jenner. The need for help is ongoing throughout the school year. Mike Mannis and Jill Peters, co-chairs
