Rabbi Abraham Joshua Heschel considered our Sabbath to be a “Cathedral in time”.

No matter where a Jewish community has found its physical home, our holy days have always been our sacred architecture.

We begin our jubilant new year of Rosh HaShanah by focusing on the promise we all have inside; on Yom Kippur we resolve to make the most out of the gift of the coming year.

Our three festivals—Sukkot, Passover, and Shavuot—connect us to our history and orient us to a future of plenty for all, freedom from oppression, and the joy of drawing deep from the wells of sacred tradition. On our great festivals, our High Holy Days, our Sabbaths and other holiday observances, we gain nourishment from the lessons of our past to learn how to build a better world in the future.
