It’s a Healing Place, a Place of Comfort: Andrea Moonsammy

“In 2012 my husband’s cancer came back – and we were told it was terminal.

Not being a member of Sinai, I asked Carol and Bruce Miller if they thought Sinai would consider holding the funeral.  Sinai said ‘yes’ – and the Rabbi met with us, with an embrace, lots of help, and much kindness.

“When my husband passed, I was in an incredibly sad place and overcome with grief.  Going to Friday night services helped – and comforted me, every time.  The Millers invited me to join Sinai and I accepted.  I was welcomed despite not being Jewish….one of the many wonderful things that is truly unique to Sinai. I joined in 2014.

“I’m not as active as I’d like to be simply because of my travel schedule.  At some point in my career and life, being a more active member will be a priority.  Right now, with some advance planning, I can participate – as a volunteer for the Ronald McDonald House, in the National Rebuilding Project, and, for two years straight, went to New Orleans’ Ninth Ward with Sinai.

“Sinai made all the difference for me.”
