It’s Like Visiting an Old Friend: Phyllis Feuerstein

“When I moved here from Olympia Fields 11 years ago, I was looking for an institution that would provide nourishment and allow me to do something for other people.

“I knew Sinai.  It was convenient and inviting.  And its name reminds me of Jewish history.

“For me, going to services is like visiting an old friend. Sinai services, especially the music, nourish my soul.  The choir is wonderful.

“I got to know people here by helping at a number of temple functions.  Jenner School’s co-chairs, Ellen Schor and Heidi Wagman, brought me into the project; I was able to help a young woman get comfortable with reading so she can reach her potential.

We developed a lovely relationship; we greeted and left each other with hugs and kisses.

“Sinai has met my needs for nourishment and connection.”
